About

I am a student and teacher of all Texts (with a special affinity to the Gospel of Mark!!!)- especially Greek and The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments (in English or their original languages). One of my passions - one might call it a "pedagogical-passion" - is to assist students in learning through dialogue, critical thinking, and self-examination of texts, and learning to ask good, thoughtful questions.

I am a PhD student at the University of Wales, St. David. I am writing a thesis under the advisement of William Campbell on the "Messianic Warrior Motif in the Gospel of Mark with emphasis on the Combat Motif. I teach Greek and New Testament studies at Biblical Seminary and have recently joined the faculty of Eastern University as an adjunct faculty member teaching New Testament. I am in my 11th year of teaching on both undergraduate and graduate levels (at three institutions).

I have been working in the text of Mark for 13 years now and continue to consider myself a "new-comer" to the world unveiled in the gospel. I began my "Markan journey" during my studies at BTS. My ThM Thesis examined the introduction of Mark - which I argued was 1.1-3 - where I explored the possibilities of 1.1-3 introducing the book of Mark, contra to the traditional positions of having 1.1-15 or 1.1-13 functioning as the introduction. My work has been aided by Watts, Malbon, Mauser, Collins, Kingsbury, and more recently, K. Barth, Forsyth, and various others who give attention to "New Criticism or Literary Criticism."
